Philippe and Charisse FarautSince beginning on their first collaborations in 1993, Philippe and Charisse Faraut have had numerous opportunities to develop and combine their skills to create unique products. Philippe, originally a professionally trained French furniture maker and wood carver (German Sommellier, Annecy, France) and Charisse, formally trained as an illustrator (Syracuse University, NY) first started their company PCF Studios, Inc. to create original porcelain doll molds. To date, their line includes twenty-six original dolls. In the collectible industry the couple have worked on projects for clients including Lenox, Goetz Dolls, Inc., Ashton Drake, The Hamilton Collection, and DreamWorks, SKG for whom they designed prototype dolls for the animated feature of The Prince of Egypt released in 1998. Among their latest endeavors is an instructional sculpting textbook, which will soon be available along with their series of instructional videos featuring Philippe's unique sculpting techniques which he has taught for years in the classes he offers throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to these projects, Philippe devotes most of his time to carving marble. His most recent distinctions include acceptance into the 2002 American Society of Portrait Artists exhibit in NYC, the National Sculpture Society's 2002 Annual Exhibit at Brookgreen Gardens and "Portraits - Public and Private," an exhibit on Park Avenue, NYC running until June 2003. |
